Grandma Funny Feet

My grandma Peterson found out this week that she has renal failure and that death is imminent. She knows that she will be dying within the next 10-30 days. Tonight Lara, Darci and I went to visit her and it was a bitter sweet experience. We stayed there for about four hours and during that time saw many cousins, second cousins, and aunts and uncles come and go. My grandma has 40 grandchildren (Darci is the 40th) and 75 great grandchildren (Charlie is the 73rd). She is 91 and has an amazing posterity. When I think about my grandma much comes to mind but here are some of the highlights:

  • Cleanliness is next to Godliness
  • Unquestionable steadfastness in the gospel
  • You make a bed with square corners
  • Work hard
  • Milk and orange juice with breakfast
  • Beautiful rose garden
  • Cross-stitch, embroidery, crochet
  • Humility
  • Laugh at yourself
  • Endurance

My grandpa died almost 28 years ago and my grandma has lived alone ever since...It breaks my heart to think about how lonesome she has felt at times. I am so happy for her to be reunited with grandpa and am thankful for her example of faith. I will miss her and am sad that I haven't spent more time with her but I feel at peace that she will be in a better place and with her beloved husband.

Wow! Can you even imagine what it would be like to have such a posterity? Amy, she sounds like a remarkable Woman...I'm sure you feel blessed to call her "grandma".
