Today Trevor is 24 years old. I just received The Long Road Home by Martha Raddatz a book about the fighting that went on in Sadr City shortly after Trevor arrived there during his first tour. I am both anxious and apprehensive to read it because I know that he had to experience many horrible things there. I admire Trevor for his courage and strength. I am thankful for his sense of humor and his love for me and my kids.
In honor of Trevor's birthday I have listed 24 things about him...
1. He is a soldier (currently serving his second tour in Iraq).
2. He loves his family.
3. He has always been like the big brother to his three older sisters when it comes to protecting them.
4. If you mess with his little sister you better watch out.
5. He can eat anything.
6. He has the memory of an elephant (he remembers most things he reads and hears).
7. He's not an African American.
8. He looks like a male model.
9. He loves his nieces and nephews.
10. He speaks with an unidentifiable accent.
11. He likes to build things (when he was little he could often be found out in the garage nailing pieces of wood together).
12. He likes to motorcycle and snowmobile with reckless abandon.
13. He borrowed my Queen Greatest Hits CD two years ago and I haven't seen it since :)
14. He likes to play Texas Hold'em.
15. He is tough on the outside but has one of the sweetest most tender hearts I have ever known.
16. His smile lights up the room (especially now that he has all his teeth).
17. He is a loyal friend.
18. He likes to spend time in Driggs.
19. He is a ladies man (did I mention that he looks like a male model?).
20. He has learned great strength through much hardship.
21. He likes to spend time with his family and friends.
22. He is a country music fan.
23. He lives in Texas (Fort Hood) when he is not deployed.
24. His laugh is hilarious.
You rock Trevor! I love you!

I couldn't agree more with this list. I can't believe Trevor is that old. Is he really? wow. I guess that makes me old too.
Trevor really is Hero to me and my kids. For Zane's birthday he was given a soldier vest with all the accessories and he couldn't have been more excited. He loved it and really took saving the world and getting the bad guys very seriously. I thought it was really a tribute to what a great uncle Trev is. We are lucky to have a brother so Rock'n.
Awesome list Amy. So many great memories flashed through my mind as I read the list. Trevor is an great son. We are all lucky to have him in our family. I can hardly wait to hug him and hang out with him at the end of the month! I am blessed to be his Mom.
That was a great list!! I seriously started laughing out loud at work when I read #7. That has to be one of the funniest memories ever. I still laugh uncontrollably when we talk about it. Trevor is a great brother and has always stuck up for us even when he was half the size of those he was sticking up to. I can't wait to come out the end of the month when he comes home and spend time with everyone. I am sure we will create many new memories to laugh about. Not to mention how much fun it will be to laugh about the old ones.
