Happy Birthday Ty!

Today is Tyra's 29th birthday and though I am running a little late I want her to know how much I love her and thank her for being a great sister. So without further adieu, Tyra here is your birthday tribute in the form of pictures. For a list of 29 great attributes about Tyra you can click here.

Tyra was a super cute kid and never went through an ugly hair stage (if you don't count the sweatband pic). I mention this because I had really ugly hair from kindergarten through my junior year in college with only a brief intermission of cool 80's hair in junior high and high school.

Tyra is the second one in from the left. Tyra is kind of sensitive about the fact that most of her pictures include other siblings but this one is classic so I had to include it. Besides Tyra looks so cute.

We always played softball during the summers and my mom was usually our coach. You can see Tyra in our team picture on the top row, third one in on the left.

One of our cousins trains horses for a living and we would go out to his place some summers.
This swimsuit has major history. One summer we all really wanted to go to Raging Waters in Utah so we "wormed" all summer and saved up our money and then my mom made all of us matching swimsuits.

Another softball picture.

Tyra, me, Sunny (our cousin), and Lara in the front looking stoned.

Tyra and Travis on Easter morning. My mom always made our clothes and she was especially good at Easter dresses.

Tyra was born in Alexandria, Virginia. My parents where living out there while my dad was at law school. Tyra was a beautiful baby. She had a ton of thick hair (and never went through an ugly stage with it falling out or rubbing off) and had baby doll porcelain skin.

Tyra served a mission in Panama and this is her with my parents right before she flew out.

Tyra and Lara were always best friends growing up (I was jealous of this). People even thought they were twins for a while. I love this pic for a lot of reasons: our homemade clothes, bare feet, summertime, but mostly because Lara is rocking out on a Walkman.

Happy birthday Tyra. I love you and will always be grateful for all you did for me when I got home from my mission. Your example and support during that difficult time made a huge difference in my life. You are a great friend and I am thankful that you are my sister.

Looking at these pictures, and reading the stories behind them, brought back a lot of childhood memories for me. I played softball growing up too...in fact, our teams probably even played each other! Our family also "wormed" an entire summer to earn money for a vacation to Disney Land. (Was that a popular thing to do in Idaho? When I tell people about it, I swear, no one has ever heard of it! Yuck! That was so gross!) Anyway, thanks Amy, for the nostalgic sentiments...and, Happy Birthday Tyra!

Okay Ty, you are a cute face. The pic where it is just the three of us girls, mom and dad, well, in it I look exactly like Scarlet and Amy and Daphne look like twiners. Except, Daph has better hair.
Gosh, we had so much fun as kids. These pictures just bring back so many memories. It makes me happy to think of them. I love you guys. I miss you Ty!

Amy I just love the birthday tributes on your blog. You have such a great family. I know I haven't met Tyra yet but I probably will someday so Happy Birthday Tyra. I've heard so much about you from Lara & Amy I feel I already know ya a little. And I totally agree about the hair, Amy I am so embarrassed for you.
