Is it bedtime yet?

Today was a long and crazy day. We didn't go to church because both of the boys have colds and are pretty miserable. By 10am Paul and I were both counting the minutes until nap time so we decided we had to go some where to make the time pass and decided to take a quick trip to the new Ikea by our house (very cool but next time we are leaving the kids at home). Before we left the house George threw a DVD case and it hit Charlie in the forehead. Charlie was super mad and it left a little cut and a bruise. Then this afternoon George wouldn't take a nap (though he did stay in his crib for about 2.5 hours). I finally gave up when I heard him jumping up and down in his crib (again) and went in to find that he had taken off his diaper and thrown it on the floor. Paul was in charge of Charlie and ended up rocking him for about three hours this afternoon. The poor baby is having a hard time breathing because his nose is so stuffed up and has a mean sounding cough too. Finally 6:30pm arrived and I started to get George ready for bed. He desperately needed a bath and a pedicure and was very proud of himself for holding still while getting his toe nails clipped. Then we read books and George just couldn't get enough. We read about twelve books before he threw one at me and hit me right by my eye (leaving a cut and a bruise...Charlie and I are twinners now). It hurt and I was so tired that I just laid on the ground and cried for a minute. George totally didn't get that he hurt me. He just knelt by me with the book and kept saying "Maimee" while trying to hand me the book to read. Needless to say, my injury brought an end to story time and George went to bed without further incident. Then it was Charlie's turn to get ready for bed and he is actually still asleep so I am hoping that he will be able to sleep through the night. I also cleaned my garage tonight and loaded my car with a bunch of DI stuff that I am going to dump off in the morning. So there you have it. A relaxing and spiritual Sunday.

BTW, Lara, if your kids get sick I am really sorry. I really didn't think George's cold was that bad when we hung out on Friday. It seems that your kids (especially the girls) always get stuff way worse than mine do so I apologize in advance and hope you still want to hang out with me once we are healthy :)

Scarlet stayed home with Dan because she has a stuffy nose. :( But don't worry, we are happy to share so much love and time with the Eaglestons (even if it means sharing a few colds, I am sure we have passed a few your way).
I am sorry that you had a hard day today. Just remember that this weekend. . . we relax, rejuvenate, and no one will throw stuff at you.

Amy, that does not sound like a very good day but the nice thing is it's over and a new day has started! I love that I can have a horrible day and then start all over again the next! Good luck. BTW where are you going to relax and rejuvenate, sounds like my kind of weekend!

I'm so sorry Amy, I know you'll have tons of fun at the retreat. Wish I could come, but(sigh)I'm determined to keep this whole nursing thing working. Try to relax, you deserve it. You're such an awesome mother.

Sorry I guess I wasn't signed in for that last comment.

Hey, what retreat is Alysha talking about? Is it a Breathe retreat in Driggs? If it is, have so much fun and I will see you next time. Anyways, I am so sorry you had such a difficult day. I have to say that you are much more mature than I am. If my kid hit me with a book, I'd probably explode, put them in their bed and slam the door. Way to be much more of an adult than me! I should take lessons from you!

It isn't an "official" Breathe Retreat but rather just a girls get away weekend. We are going to Driggs and have no plans but to do whatever we feel like doing. I am bringing Charlie but he should be feeling better by then so I am hoping that it will be easy with one kid...and fun to just have a bit of one-on-one time with Charlie.
