It is hard to stay depressed when you have Claw Bangs Thursday to look forward to. Judging by the lack of response to my call for claw bangs pictures I am beginning to think that most folks don't get as much pleasure out of ridiculous old pictures of themselves as I do. However, I find it therapeutic on many different levels. In the case of this lovely dance picture it just makes me laugh.
1990. This is a page straight out of my scrapbook and proof that claw bangs were a major Idaho thing. Now it is true that I am the only girl from Idaho Falls (the big city) in the group picture where as the rest of the girls were from Shelley or Firth (farming towns that still get out of school for spud harvest) regardless claw bangs were all the rage. There is really so much more that could be said about this picture, the costume, the way I scrap booked the pictures with glitter and the word "star" cut from a magazine, not to mention the fact that I am the most uncoordinated dancer ever to take the stage but I'll just stick to the claw bangs for the sake of time and my self-esteem (some things still aren't funny).

Great picture.
I won't comment on the dancing but it is funny. You need to admit that. Well, I guess it is good to know that even though you loved sky-high bangs you still couldn't out rat the Shelley girls.
Funny thing is that those bangs are still "in" at Shelley High.
I sure have had my laughs with the "claw bangs"...since you have posted I now realized that they really had a "name" I didn't know that before. I just figured we were still learning how to fix our hair...Ha! Ha!
I'm trying to think of something clever to say but I'm way too sleep deprived for blog quips right now. Suffice to say this post made me laugh on many different levels.
Thanks for sharing. I really am going to try find a picture of me with claw bangs to post next week. I know I could share some good old pictures with ya.
Amy I pulled my pictures and I had what we called the Wasatch Front bang not quite like the claw. Love the scrap page who didn't love to use glitter.
Love it! Madison looked at it with me, and when she saw the picture of just you, she said, "Look at that beautiful girl."
I think the claw bang thursday hasn't caught on because you're the only one with enough self confidence to post pictures like this of yourself! My hair wasn't bad but in style. It was just bad.
The great thing about claw bangs is that rockers (male) had them too.
Amy I had some awesome claw bangs as well...because you did my hair haha. The best was when I would have a french braid and awesome claw bangs. I felt so hott and cool because I looked like my BEAUTIFUL big sister Amy.
Thank you for cheering me up today...I needed this :)
I love it!! I totally remember those costumes I was so jealous of them. I was in the younger class and our costumes weren't as cool. I have to admit as a little sister I was always envious of your claw bangs. I just couldn't get my to stand up that way. No matter how much I ratted them they wouldn't stay. I guess as I look back it may have been a blessing, but I sure didn't feel that way then. :)
That picture is crazy! I remember all of those girls. How did I not dance that year with you? Oh, I really missed out. Remember we were the girls from I.F. and we would not let anyone forget that. Alas, I could not get my unnaturally straight hair to claw like the other lucky girls, yourself included. I was so jealous. Now, I'm not sure why
