Roller Rink Nostalgia

I am feeling a bit down and nostalgic today and wish that I could curl up on my bed with all of my books, photos and projects spread out around me and buoy myself up but there is email to be answered and clients waiting for documents I promised I would have to them days ago so I must force myself to stop this nonsense and focus on my obligations and I will...right after I share this great page from my scrapbook. When I look at this page the memories roll in by the dozens and I want to reminisce and document the silliness of my childhood roller rink antics but I can't, at least not right now, because my responsible side is screaming at me to get back to work and I have been trained to listen.

Now back to obligations (a.k.a. work, the grindstone, what I do to pay my mortgage) I go.

I am saddened and so surprised there are no pictures of us together in kindergarten. Probably because I wasn't a member of the "Miss Clark, I know how to carry my scissors the right way" Club. Oh, those were the days. Hey, did I tell you she's in my stake out here? Crazy, little world.

Amy, Your scrapbook abilities amaze me. "Just Do It"

...my favorite times were at my childhood roller rink where we'd link hands and roller-skate in a circle, make a train of 30 kids and do the wave. And who can forget "Snow-ball"

--Love those memories.

Erika, I have to admit that I was surprised to see that you didn't appear in my scrapbook until we started going to girls camp. I am a born people pleaser (that is where the "I know how to carry my scissors the right way" came from) but am trying hard to fight it and have made a ton of headway in the last 20 years. You know that I was way jealous of you in kindergarten because you had a porcelin doll and I didn't and I really, really wanted one. I think I wanted one more than I wanted a Cabbage Patch Kid when they became the rage. Besides you had a really cool older brother which automatically made you cooler than me. When I think back I really have no idea why I thought Ian was so cool but I seriously idolized him...Not in a crush sort of way but in a "I wish I had a big brother to tell me stuff" sort of way.

I can't believe how much you and Daph look alike. You two are built the same and have similar personalities. I just hope the pleasing part of her doesn't take me 20 years to beat out. J/k!!

I totally have been feeling that way today too. You should have called me. I guess I will just call you. Ring, Ring....

Did you ever go to the Starlite Skating rink? That place was my favorite!
