Snow!

Today we woke up to more snow than I have seen in a long time and definitely more snow than I have ever experienced at one time since moving to Utah. A couple of years ago Driggs received over two feet in less than 24 hours and we were snowed in until my dad revved up his tractor and dug out a path for us. Growing up in Idaho I remember school being cancelled at least a couple of times each year for a "snow day." There was even one glorious year with five snow days in a row. I remember listening to the radio each morning and hoping they would call out the name of my school during the snow closure listing (that was until I found out that we were going to have to make up our snow days during the summer). BTW, in order to get a snow day in Idaho it has to be below zero (not counting windshield and there is always windshield because the wind never stops blowing there) and there has to be a lot of snow for the afore mentioned wind to blow around. The house I did most of my growing up in had an amazing backyard and during most winters there would be several four to six foot snow drifts where we would spend good chunks of time building snow forts and tunnels.

The picture is of me at age two. We lived outside of Washington D.C. at the time and this snow storm closed down the whole city. I really can't believe I didn't take any snow pictures today but I am sure it will still be here tomorrow.

I love you, Amy. When you say "windshield", do you mean "wind chill"? Maybe that is a term they use in Utah that we don't use down here in Tennessee. Either way, I really don't miss the snow and cold. I used to love the sound of this, "Bonneville School District #93 is closed today." That always made my day. Do you remember being in the hot tub on snowy days? That dangerous hot tub of yours. I'm glad it never sucked my hair into the filter and drowned me. What was wrong with us? I've got a lot to say this morning, don't I? I must be avoiding my kids.

I am jealous it is super cold here and has been all week. But we don't get much snow here. We haven't had snow for weeks, but this morning we did wake up to about an 1/8th of an inch. The weird thing is nobody knows how to drive in the snow here. It is so annoying!!

Erika is way funny. LOL. The first picture of you looks so much like George that I thought it was him until I read the text. Love you and snow days.

Yes, I am talking about the wind chill factor. My entire life I have thought it was windshield. Classic!

Apparently I'm not alone. Google windshield factor.

must be an idaho thing.

Last year up on Suncrest Ryan couldn't touch the top of the snow plow embankments along the sides of the road, They were piled up that high. I can only imagine what it looks like up there right now... I say imagine because I'm not driving up there to check.

When I was little it snowed a lot more than it does now. I swear. I loved it at Ricks I had a teacher that lived in Sugar City so we had class canceled a few times because she couldn't make it and we didn't have to make it up. I love the snow.

I think that picture of you looks a lot like Charlie!

I remember living in Idaho, and loving those snow days, too. Crazy that Utah got that much. I don't remember getting that much snow for years. (Glad I'm in AZ!)

You seriously thought it was windshield? That is hilarious because it doesn't even make sense, you're a nut!

Amy, you are cracking me up. Seriously, I am sitting on my bed reading blogs and your windshield factor made me lol. I laughed even more reading Erika's comment. Erika and Amy you two really were a funny team.
Erika and Amy, today all the schools are closed because the temperature was 30 below last night -- not including the Wind Chill Factor.

Idaho rocks...Windshield and all. Also, Lindsay, I really don't think about things making sense that much.

Also, if you are still laughing at me over the windshield factor thing then please google windshield factor and see that I am really not alone in this. It is actually all part of my "setting low expectations" philosophy.
