On my birthday I decided that I wanted to learn a new craft during my 31st year and am now feeling all sorts of craftiness pumping through my veins.
I found this tutorial on one of my favorite craft blogs and decided to give it a try. I used a straight stitch sewn in a messy freehand pattern around the perimeter of the appliqué instead of the satin stitch the tutorial recommends and am really happy with the way they turned out.
I was able to machine appliqué a dozen onsies in about three hours though I think it will go much faster in the future now that I know what I am doing.

p.s. I used cookie cutters to create the designs. Except for the fish that is a Lara original. I am thinking it would be fun to do holiday shirts using the ghost, bat, leaf, tree, and candy cane cookie cutters I have stashed away.
I am totally impressed! I have found that I am a lot more ambitious these days to try out something new when I see how many crafty bloggers there are out there. Sew Amy Sew!
I am totally impressed! I just got a new sewing machine and am looking for new projects. What is the crafting blog address? Thanks!
I want one or two!
I am very impressed. I didn't know you had it in you. :) Hip hip hurray to New Years Resolutions.
I am in awe. I just learned how to thread a sewing machine.
Those are adorable, Amy! You are so creative. And what a good idea to use cookie cutters!
Love 'em...
Good work, Amy! It was fun sewing all day Sunday. We really need to have a regular craft day at least once a month. There are so many more projects we need to do.
I'm impressed! And inspired. I'm going to try that out. Those would make such cute gifts.
I can't wait to see what other crafts you come up with.
Awesome job. That is so great that you are fulfilling your resolutions. I love them! Great idea. Yes, I agree with Lara, we need to go a craft night or day once a month. Sounds fun to me!
Great job Amy. Those are cute! I love doing stuff like that.
Amy,
I find it ironic that we chose the same blog background without knowing it!! I hope you don't mind. And your craftiness blows me away. I've done a total of two crafts since I've been married, and only one worked, because Justin helped me. Do you do craft tutoring? :)
I love it! Can we have craft day at the next retreat? Also, what are you going to do with all of those onesies? Do you have an announcement? Hee hee!
