Christmas Morning

Paul and I always stay up way too late assembling, wrapping, staging, and talking as we prepare for Christmas morning and I love it. It is one of the joyful rites of parenthood.

 Charlie's super dog

George's big foot (we have Grandpa Blake to thank for planting the big foot seed)

This stocking hanger is my favorite Christmas decoration. My mom painted it during the tole painting craze of the '80s and I specifically remember watching her flick the "snow" onto it with a toothbrush (I thought that was the most ingenious idea ever).

I love looking at everything once it is all set up.

The obligatory "waiting at the top of the stairs" picture. That sheet you see in the background was part of a booby trap that Paul set up to make sure that the boys didn't go downstairs without us (he does it every year).

They are holding the gifts that they gave each other (we open sibling gifts along with pjs on Christmas Eve).

Charlie got a Leapster for Christmas and George got some new games for his so they spent a large part of the day like this. I love Charlie's belly.

We had an awesome Christmas and Paul completely surprised me with a new bike which had me jumping around and screaming with excitement.

I love it too.. it's the best! It totally makes me feel all giddy and like a kid again.. setting up and making everything look all magical is my second favorite part.. my MOST favorite part is having the kids run into my bedroom in the morning and start describing everyone at once, a hundred miles an hour what all Santa left and how it's all set up & everything.. That's the best!
