Ecuador - Otavalo

Otavalo is a really cool indigenous town that is a couple of hours north of Quito and was the highlight of the trip for me. The opportunity to experience the market at Otavalo is an experience I will never forget.

There are two markets in Otavalo. The first market is an authentic indigenous market and is full of natives who are selling various food items to other natives. I felt as though I had stepped back in time and was experiencing something truly special. The second market (which I don't have pictures of) is the local artisan market where the natives sell their textiles and jewelry to tourists.
The scenery on the way to Otavalo was magical...
Terraced farming. I saw a lot of this when I went to Guatemala with my parents on the way home from my mission and think it is beautiful.
