Mommy Guilt

I know that it isn't possible to live up to the expectations I set for myself (even with my new motto) never-the-less it is so hard not to feel guilty for all the little and big things that happen or don't happen each day. Honestly, I have always been this way (I am an inconsistent over-achiever) but since I became a mom two years ago the pain that accompanies the guilt is more piercing and my guilt-o-meter is much more sensitive.

Amy, you are a rockn' awesome mom. I can totally relate to the mommy guilt thing. I have actually read books with the words mommy guilt in the title. They didn't help much. :(
Regardless, I love and admire you. You have NOTHING to feel guilty about. You have two smart, cute, happy, healthy little boys. Who totally adore you.

You are so awesome! And I think that it's totally normal to have mommy guilt. I do on a daily basis. We're just too hard on ourselves. We don't give ourselves enough credit for the good things that we do, we tend to focus on the negative.

I totally agree especially with my kids watching t.v. 24/7 right now. I just can't entertain them when I have to be down now. I feel the guilt constantly and I agree with Lindsay, we don't give ourselves enough credit for the wonderful things we do do. Like they are happy and healthy and that is the most important thing.

Well Amy, if you're not going to give yourself any credit than I will. Anyone who knows you (really knows you) can say w/out a doubt that you love and live for your kids. I've never seen anyone (w/ the exception of La) who's more dedicated to raising their children w/ a healthy environment and w/ the love & support that you have for your boys. I know George & Charlie are far more blessed w/ you as their mom than w/ any other mother that could ever love and take care of them the way you do. As a mom I think the guilt is inevitable but I hope these kinds of days are far and in between the many joys that I know you've experienced as a mother. I just know your boys are going to become outstanding young men because of you. I have faith in you as a mother. You are an inspiration to me and I love you.

I agree completely with what all your awesome friends have said...and please don't forget what we talked about today (where these feelings of inadequacy and guilt derive from)...don't let him win.

Oh, and we need a complete and descriptive report of your happenings at girls' camp...

What are you talking about? You are a really cool mom! Your kids are lucky to have you.
I know what you mean though. It seems there just isn't enough time or energy to do everything you want to and the way you want to. I can't imagine having 2!!! That scares me.

You are the cutest, sweetest, happiest mom. I wish you would not feel that guilt. Just remember how Charlie laughed out loud when you walked in the room. He was so happy to see you.

I just hope that one day I can be as good of a mom as you and Lara are. You are both great examples for the rest of your siblings!
