A real farm

My sister Tyra is in town and Saturday we all took a little trip out to visit one of her friends who lives on a real farm. There were miniature horses, cows, chickens, goats, and a couple of pet rats. The kids thought it was the coolest thing ever. One of the horses was only two days old and the kids were able to run around with and even groom the horses. The highlight for George was when Daphne found a garter snake. She is totally fearless and immediately ran after it and was able to catch it. She let it wrap itself around her arm and put it around her neck. It bit her twice and peed all over her and she still had no problem playing with it. It was honestly unbelievable. A little bit later I had to threaten her with her life when she came running toward me with a huge rat which she let climb into her shirt. George is normally quite nervous around animals. He talks big but doesn't like to get too close (probably why he likes the zoo so much). The farm was a turning point for George and his relationship with animals. He pet and groomed a horse and spent quite a bit of time searching for the snake who went into hiding after being malled by Daphne and Zane.

George and Baby Domino getting to know one another.

George and Scarlet waiting their turn to either hold the rope or comb the horse.

George combing Sugar (Scarlet is in the background holding the rope).

Another pic of George combing Sugar. I think he is a bit allergic to animals (notice the runny nose).

Daphne and Sugar

George and Scarlet hanging out in the hammock. This is actually where Scarlet spent most of the afternoon. That kid knows how to relax and enjoy herself.

Daphne the snake charmer

Charlie and aunt Tyra

This one wins the cutest pic of the day prize. Charlie loved hanging out with his uncle Dan and watching all the action.

And this one came in a close second in the cutest pic of the day contest. This is Sugar and Brown Sugar.

You seriously do fun stuff with your kids. I love all the pictures. They all win in my opinion. Charlie's outfit is so cute. I am so sad that George might have alergies, poor guy! At least he's breaking through his up-closeness, Val's still working on that. Daphne amazes me! And I know I say this every time you have a pic of Tyra but man she looks like your mom. However at first glance this time I thought it might be Lara.

As usual, all of your pics are fantastic. Tyra looks so much like your mom. I love the mountains in the background on the pictures. Wow Daphne! She can keep the snakes and the rodents. George and Scarlet are so cute together.

You are the funnest mom! You are always doing the coolest stuff with your kids! Daphne is a crazy girl! I can't believe she picked up a rat and let it climb in her shirt, eww! That picture of Charlie is amazing, definitely best pic of the day!

That looks so fun, my kids would love to do that. The rat would have scared me away from the farm. Cute pictures (as always)

I think it is so funny that as a kid, I took it for granted that we always had a farm close by to visit and didn't think it was all that great. Now my kids, like yours, just think it is the coolest thing ever to visit a "real" farm. They are DYING to visit Idaho this summer for some "real" camping, horseback riding, and mountain climbing.
I also love seeing your kids with their cousins.....its the Hall family reincarnated, this time in Utah!

Those pictures are so cute! I wish I could have gone to the farm too. Except for maybe when Daphne caught the snake...

WOW! What a fun day! Okay, the snake and rat...no way! Not for me. I am like George, I love animals but from a distance in the zoo unless it is a dog or cat or bunny. I love the photo of Charlie looking up at Dan. Way cute day!
